 Interviewing Skills & Techniques

Establish & Maintain Rapport

  • Make the candidate feel relaxed "breaking the ice"
  • Greet the candidate warmly
  • Display Sincere interest
  • Listen carefully to what is being said

Observe non verbal behavior:

Watch for facial expressions, gestures and body positions. You must take care, though, that interpretations of non verbal behavior are subjective and must be considered with caution due to interviewer Bias.

Provide realistic information about the job & the organization:

Answer fully all questions asked by the candidate but do not make any promises.

Ask Questions:

Ask open questions to encourage the candidates to open up and tell you as much as possible about their qualifications

Take Notes:

Note taking about the Candidate's qualifications is necessary and should be taken on a separate sheet of Paper.

Summarize:

Conclude the interview with the main points that were discussed and tell the candidate what will happen next.
